We Value Our Referring Community
We thank you for considering Colorado Retina (CRA) as a resource for your patients. Your referrals are important to us, and we will strive to provide your patients with high-quality, personalized care. Rest assured, our team will quickly keep you updated on all diagnostic and treatment findings for multiple vitreoretinal conditions.
Outside normal hours, our physicians and triage staff are available 24/7 for after-hours, weekend and holiday ocular emergencies. We find that for our referring doctors, the continuous presence of our medical and surgical teams allows us to ensure optimal, immediate care.
Throughout our various locations, your patients will have access to services that may not be found in other local practices, including same-day appointment availability, the performance of in-office testing and procedures, genetic counseling, patient support groups, pet therapy, grant assistance, clinical trials, and more.
Our compassionate, talented specialists have been serving the Rocky Mountain region as a group for over 15 years. In that time, we have developed a wealth of knowledge and experience in clinical retinal care and vitreoretinal surgery.
We are Colorado’s only retina practice to provide specialized coverage in ocular oncology, uveitis, and inherited retinal disease (IRD). And, we are a leading referral center for patients with complex auto-immune and infectious ocular conditions, intraocular tumors/cancer, and genetic disorders.
Referrals Done Your Way
Colorado Retina is committed to collaborating with our referring community to ensure your patients receive comprehensive, unparalleled retinal care. The first step is making this process as easy as possible for you. For your convenience, we offer four ways for you to refer a patient to us:
Shared Referral Dashboard – Our HIPAA-secure dashboard allows you to submit quickly, track and self-schedule referred patients before they leave your office.
Online Form – You can fill out the referral form to submit an appointment request instantly.
Fax & Email – Once you download our Referral Form, you can then fax or email it to us, along with related exam notes, imaging, demographics, and copies of the patients’ insurance cards, if possible.
No matter your preferred approach, we promise to process your referral within two business days and keep you updated throughout each patient’s care journey. You can also access our Physician Scheduler, which gives you visibility into all of our providers' schedules.
Request Referral Materials
We’ve taken an additional step to streamline the referral process and ensure your patient is prepared for their first appointment. Please fill out our Request Referrals Materials form, and we will mail you a referral package within 5 business days.
Curbside Consult
In the event your patients are unable to come to our offices, we invite you to use our
Curbside Consult Text Service. You can text Dr. Betty Zhang, our practice’s first retina optometrist, with questions about your patients' potential retinal concerns. Dr. Zhang will also assist you in determining diagnosis, scheduling urgency, creating a co-management care plan, or even just for a quick second opinion.
Rest assured, incoming texts sent during regular business hours will always receive a same-day response. You can now contact the Curbside Consult number on a HIPAA-secure service line, (720) 738-4744. This allows you to safely exchange PHI and send confidential supporting images and documents. And if Dr. Zhang is unavailable, you can text this same number to reach our on-call physician and trained triage team for coverage.
Note: For all emergent or urgent ocular issues and/or same-day scheduling assistance, please do not send via text. Instead, call our main line, at (303) 261-1600, and follow the prompts to speak to our triage team.
Our Locations
Colorado Retina continues to grow its network of coverage, and we accept patient referrals from practices throughout the region and from across the US. Our modern offices feature a full suite of state-of-the-art equipment. And each location is integrated with ambulatory surgery centers to facilitate immediate care for patients with ocular emergencies.
We provide five service locations in the Denver Metro area. And our two satellite locations, offering limited services, extend care to Colorado’s Summit County and Goodland, Kansas.
