Pneumatic retinopexy is a minimally invasive technique for fixing retinal detachments. This technique can prevent a trip to the operating room for select retinal detachment patients and has been shown to have improved visual outcomes in some patients. However, not all retinal detachment patients are good candidates for pneumatic retinopexy. The success of the procedure also depends heavily on the patient’s ability to cooperate and position during the post-procedural period. If failed, additional surgical intervention is required. Treatment of choice is up to the discretion and preference of the treating physician.
